Digital DJ Pro Tutorial #1 – First Run Setup

Digital DJ Pro is an outstanding free mixing program for DJs, which despite being free offers a comprehensive set of tools to perform live mixes, allowing you to match BPM in two different tracks and crossfade them together, just in the same way you would do with a turntables and mixer DJing set.

Digital DJ Pro offers a wide range of features, not only ease of use for those who are new to DJing but also advanced capabilities for more experienced DJs. Today I'm going to tell you how to go through the initial configuration to run Digital DJ Pro for the first time.

Of course you have to have Digital DJ Pro installed and running in your PC, if not go to the big blue “Download” button on top of this page and once you have the installer run it, InstallIQTM will take car of the rest.

When you run Digital DJ Pro for the first time on your computer it will ask you to select the folder where your music library is by showing this window. Browse through your folders and select the one you have the music in.

After that Digital DJ Pro will scan your music files, this can take some time depending on how many track you have.

That should be all, nevertheless you can make further adjustments by going to Options > Preferences.

In this window you will find a lot of parameters and option to adjust, if you are inexperienced and everything works fine I would recommend to leave them into the factory defaults, because some of these can make Digital DJ Pro to stop working. So in the first place we find the Sound Hardware options. The sections are Audio Output, Pitch Behaviour and Latency. In general they are fine in the default settings. You can try changing the Latency time until you find the adjustment that best fits your hardware.

You can also safely change the library location, click on the Library and Playlists icon on the left panel and then click on the Browse button. This will open the same window Digital DJ Pro showed when run for the first time.
