InstaCodecs Tutorial #2 – Profile and Presets
InstaCodecs is an all-in-one free codec pack for decompressing, decoding and processing almost any video format you may come across. InstaCodecs is a comprehensive set of codecs that will help you playback to a large number of audio and video files regardless the format. This free codec solution also offers fast decompression, supporting both XviD and DivX formats, enhancing image quality at the same time by correcting brightness and saturation. The InstaCodecs codec pack includes the most popular codecs formats like fixed quantizer, two steps coding, constant bitrate, fixed quality, etc. for rendering video files with the highest possible quality. In this tutorial I'm going to continue with the video decoder configuration, particularly profile and presets adjustments.
Before we continue you should ensure that you have InstaCodecs installed and running on your computer. If not, go to the “Download” button above and get your free full version. The InstallIQ installation manager will take care of the setup process after you launch the installer.

So, in order to be able to see the Profile and Presets section you need to first access the InstaCodecs's video decoder configuration dialog, go to Start → All programs → InstaCodecs → Video decoder configuration in your Windows Start menu.

You can also, double-click the red InstaCodecs video icon in the System tray while playing a video.
Note: Most changes made to these settings while playing back a video file will take effect immediately, however, codecs, output colorspaces, queue and some other adjustments need your video application to be restarted in order to take effect.
On the InstaCodecs video decoder configuration click on “Profile / Preset settings options.

You must be wondering what are the Profiles / Preset settings useful for, well, InstaCodecs offers this feature for you to be able to use a different set of adjustments under different conditions. So, you can, for example, configure InstaCodecs to use preset settings depending on input video resolution and name them high-res and low-res. In addition you can create various preset settings and select one of them in a manual way.
Under the preset settings you have: image and audio filters, output settings and decoder options (excluding those in the 'Codecs' page). All these options are listed below the “Profiles / Preset settings” menu in the dialog's left panel. You can't select codec, OSD, Keys, remote and DirectShow settings by preset settings.
To create a new profile click on the “New” button. The new profile will automatically named “default 1” but you can rename it by clicking on the “Rename” button.

Once created and renamed you can go to any of the pages below and start adding settings, in the corresponding page select the profile by clicking on its name from the profiles options.

Basically, you can add as many settings as you need to, so going through all of them individually would be too extensive for this tutorial's scope.
Going back to the “ Profiles / Preset settings” page, do not forget to check the “Automatic preset loading” box so that your preset settings are selected automatically. You can also set conditions to the preset settings automatic loading by clicking on the “Preset autoload conditions” button.
