LibreOffice Impress Tutorial #6 – How to Insert Images from the Gallery
LibreOffice is a powerful free office suite which is the result of applying top notch technology to office automation software. Impress is its presentation component and it offers all the necessary tools and features to create compelling slide-shows and presentations. In today´s tutorial I'm going to show you how to use its image gallery feature.

Of course you need LibreOffice installed in your machine to follow this tutorial and get the most out of it. Just click on the “Download” button above if you want to get your free fully-featured copy of this phenomenal free office suite. The InstallIQTM manager will gide you through the setup.

In order to insert an image from the gallery, first of all, you need to create a new presentation or open an existing one (for instructions on that check our previous tutorials), once you have, select the slide you want the image to be inserted to and click on the “Gallery” button on the Drawing toolbar which by default can be found at the bottom of the interface over the Status Bar.

The Gallery will appear in the work area on top of the current slide.

Notice that you can hide or re-size the Gallery by dragging the lower edge. You can also hide the gallery by clicking on this dragging point

As you can see on the Gallery's left panel there are a series of categories the group the images, just select one of them to see their content.

To finally insert one of the image on the right preview panel just drag it and drop it in the place you want to insert it in the current slide.

The newly inserted image has green grip points as any other object you can insert or create regularly in your slides and it behaves in the same way when it comes to moving or re-sizing it

When you are satisfied you can close the Gallery by clicking on the Gallery button.
