MPlayer - The Movie Player Tutorial #7 - How to Keep Mplayer Codecs Updated

So, first of all you need to get the latest codec package for MPlayer - The Movie Player from its official site by following this link if it doesn't work copy this url to the address box of your favorite browser: www.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/windows-essential-20071007.zip
I used Mozilla Firefox for this example:

A popup window will ask you what to do with the file, select “Save File”

A new explorer-like window will open where you can browse your folders go to C:\Program Files\MPlayer 1.0rc2\codecs (if you are using a 64bit OS this should be C:\Program Files (x86)\MPlayer 1.0rc2\codecs)

Once the download is finished go to that folder using Windows Explorer and unzip the file using a compressed archive manager, I highly recommend that you use 7-Zip which you can download from this link.

Once you are finished this folder should look like this:

As you can see a new folder has been created with the same name of the zipped archive. You can now delete the .zip file if you want.
The changes will take full effect the next time you run MPlayer.
