MPlayer Tutorial #5 – How to Open a Subtitle
MPlayer is “The” Movie Player, this fabulous free media player features an extreme ease of use due to its modular interface and if we join this with its light system footprint, the fact that Mplayer is really cross platform and its extensive support for not only video files but almost any multimedia file format, we get one of the most versatile and solid free multimedia players out there. In this tutorial I'm going to tell you how to open subtitles.

Bear in mind that having MPlayer installed on your computer is a must if you want to make the best out of this tutorial. So, click the “Download” button on top to get the InstallIQTM manager that will take care of the rest.

So, if you want to load a subtitle all you have to do is to right-click on the control module and select “Open Subtitle”

The “Add Subtitle...” dialog will open, this is an explorer-like dialog that will allow you to browse your folder for the subtitle file (which in general, is in the .SRT format, anyway, many subtitle formats are supported)

Once you find the subtitle file, select it and click on the “Open” button.

And voilà!! your subtitle is loaded and displayed. Easy-peasy, huh?
