In this way we can gain access and compress-extract files and archives from two different places. One is via the context menus as you can see in the next screenshot:

And the second way to do it is by browsing through our HDDs and folders directly from the File Manager window:

Operating System and Other Stuff
7-Zip runs perfectly under the Windows 7, Vista, XP and older operating systems. Linux/Unix users will find that there is a port of the command line version to those OSs. Localizations are available for over 70 languages.
Some other interesting details I found very useful are, first of all, the possibility of using AES-256 encryption in .7z and AES-256 and ZipCrypto in .ZIP file format which means that you can lock your files with a secure password, secondly, 7-Zip's capability for creating self-extracting archives in the .7z format, and last but not least drag and drop capabilities.

Final Words
Summing it all, 7Zip is the right choice when it comes to handle our compression-extraction needs, especially when our usual archiver is not able to cope with the task. What is best, 7-Zip will do it totally for free.
